DESA founded in 1945, It serves as a platform for international cooperation and policy analysis, facilitating discussions and initiatives to promote sustainable development. DESA is working closely with member states / providing research / data and policy recommendations for enhancing understanding and decision making on issues such as poverty / inequality / climate change / and economic development. DESA oversees the implementation of the UN’s development agenda, including the Sustainable Development Goals “SDGs” with the aim of fostering inclusive and equitable progress worldwide.

Education & Qualifications Requirements:

Education & Work Experiences:

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. However, for the purpose of this internship, a keen interest in implement project and capacity building is a definite advantage. Potential candidates will be contacted by hiring manager directly for further consideration.

Languages:

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

Key Responsibilities Career:

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Assist in drafting and preparing official documents.
• Attend and summarize conferences and meetings, including Expert Group meetings and workshops.
• Support organization of meetings and conferences.
• Assist data collection of ICT trends and policies.
• Conduct research and provide analysis on relevant issues.
• Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations etc.
• Monitor regional and global news sources for articles and stories relevant to ICT for development.
• Support implementation of projects.
• Assist in maintaining databases.
• Perform additional duties as may be required.
