Furthermore, through analyzing case studies from conflict-affected regions like Afghanistan, Ukraine, Tunisia, Sudan, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of conflict prevention strategies. Engage with experts and experienced practitioners, exchange knowledge, and become part of a vibrant community of practice dedicated to building peace.

Course Requirements:

  • Interest in conflict prevention and a desire to contribute to peacebuilding efforts.
  • Openness to exploring diverse perspectives and engaging in discussions on conflict-related issues.
  • Adequate proficiency in English to participate in the course materials and virtual interactions effectively.
  • Access to a computer with a stable internet connection for online sessions and assignments.
  • Availability to commit to a 6-day virtual course, scheduled for 12-14 & 19-21 June 2024.
  • Willingness to complete preparatory readings and actively participate in individual or group assignments throughout the course.

  • Reflect on migration and dealing with the past through a conflict prevention lens.
  • Explore the application of conflict prevention tools, such as early warning and early response mechanisms and conflict sensitivity, in diverse contexts.
  • Develop skills to design effective conflict prevention measures considering their opportunities and challenges.
  • Learn from experienced conflict prevention practitioners, identify best practices, and apply lessons learned to participants’ own work.
  • Foster knowledge exchange and establish connections within a supportive community of practice.

Format:

  • Virtual course delivered through online platforms.
  • Preparatory readings to familiarize participants with key concepts and case studies.
  • 6 half-day online-facilitated sessions conducted on 25-27 September & 02-04 October 2024.
  • Engage in individual or group assignments to apply course learnings.
  • Opportunities for interactive discussions, Q&A sessions, and networking with experts and fellow participants.
