(ESCWA) stands for Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, was founded in 1973 as one of the regional commissions affiliated with the United Nations. By the end of 2015, the number of member states in UN-ESCWA had reached 18 countries from the Western Asia region.
UN-ESCWA is Drawing inspiration from the United Nations’ pillars related to stability and prosperity, ESCWA aspires to stimulate economic and social change to achieve sustainable development in the Arab region. ESCWA works in coordination with the governments of member states and with their citizens to harness their potential in building strong foundations for progress and prosperity.
