Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and in good academic standing.
  • Completion of previous pharmacy intern experiences (IPPEs) is preferred.
  • A strong foundation in pharmacy knowledge and therapeutics.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills for effective teamwork with diverse healthcare professionals.
  • A meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to following safety protocols in a medication-dispensing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in medication dispensing, verification, and labeling under the direct supervision of pharmacists.
  • Conduct medication history reviews and participate in medication reconciliation upon patient admission and discharge.
  • Assist pharmacists with developing and monitoring individualized patient medication plans.
  • Gain exposure to medication administration and provide patient education on medications (as applicable, following state regulations).
  • Participate in clinical rounds and patient care conferences to learn about patient cases and treatment plans.
  • Contribute to research projects or quality improvement initiatives within the pharmacy department (as applicable).
  • Participate in educational sessions and departmental meetings to enhance your pharmacy knowledge and stay updated on best practices.
