IEG Fellowships for Doctoral Students

IEG Fellowships for Doctoral Students 2025

PhD candidates with at least a Masters degree in history, theology, or a related historical field from Germany and outside are eligible for these. At the time of the application deadline, they had to have been working toward their PhD for no more than three years; however, there may be well-supported exceptions to this requirement. The Institute does not conduct exams or provide degrees because it is a research organization that is independent of a university. The fellowship holder’s home university supervisor oversees the completion of their dissertation.
