(ICFJ) Knight Fellowship – 2024

International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) Knight Fellowship

(ICFJ) Knight Fellowship – 2024: The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) Knight Fellowship for 2024 is now accepting applications. The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s ongoing sponsorship makes the fellowships feasible.

The one-year fellowship program supports innovative media projects that tackle issues in the home regions of the fellows and facilitates international dissemination of these innovations. One or two U.S.-based fellows will be among the ICFJ Knight Fellows in 2024, to concentrate on the junction of U.S. and international information requirements.

Themes:

  • How journalism can benefit from AI
  • establishing networks and resources for journalists working abroad
  • Meeting the information needs of American diaspora communities
  • Fighting misinformation, particularly during election seasons
  • presenting climate change in a creative way
  • establishing infrastructure or shared service networks to support the growth of independent journalists

The fellowship aims to provide journalists with the time, space, and tools they need to realize their creative visions.

Applications are being accepted from seasoned journalists with a history of producing significant journalism by ICFJ. This is not a residential fellowship with an American base. Except for journalists who have been exiled, fellows will be stationed in their home nations. The program is especially looking for initiatives that use cutting-edge methods and tools to tackle unique problems in the local media environment.

A monthly honorarium as well as professional expenses will be given to fellows, encouraging them to devote all of their attention to their fellowship projects. Any work related to or supporting the project that is done outside of the fellowship is acceptable.

Benefits:

  • The chosen candidate will gain access to a network of media experts, mentorship, and financial support.
  • To guarantee that the fellow can maintain the project after the fellowship period and have a significant impact on their local media environment, the fellowship also offers possibilities for training and worldwide exposure.

Application Process:

  • Applicants are required to submit a detailed project proposal outlining their project’s objectives, the innovative elements of their approach, and the expected outcomes.
  • A draft budget for the project is also required.
  • Applicants should also demonstrate how their past work supports their proposed fellowship project and a plan for sustaining the project when their fellowship ends.

Application Deadline: February 29, 2024
