Internships at Netflix are paid and typically last a minimum of 12 weeks. The company provides a selection of fixed start dates in May or June 2024 to accommodate various school calendars. Depending on the team, the 2024 summer internships will be located either at the Los Gatos, CA office or the Los Angeles, CA office, subject to prevailing conditions.
Netflix takes careful consideration of multiple compensation factors to determine the top-of-market intern pay. Market indicators are relied upon to determine compensation, while also taking into account the intern’s specific job, skills, experience, and location. As a result, intern compensation may vary based on these factors.
As an intern in Geo & Network Intelligence at Netflix, you will play an active role in the development of our global IP to geolocation system. Our objective is to gain a deeper understanding of where our members use Netflix worldwide while safeguarding their privacy. We seek candidates who possess a practical comprehension of the variations in spatial datasets across different regions and countries. Interpreting spatial datasets using a model applicable on a global scale can be challenging due to these country and regional differences. This internship will involve hands-on work, requiring familiarity with popular Geographic Information System (GIS) software, SQL, and Python.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an MS/MA or PhD in a technical field such as Geospatial Engineering, Geography, Spatial Information Science, Geological Sciences, Computer Science, or a related discipline, with an expected graduation date around December 2024 or Spring/Summer 2025.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and SQL.
- Familiarity with widely used Geographic Information System (GIS) software, such as Esri’s ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, or ArcGIS Online.
- Knowledge of GIS tools, spatial and relational databases, and concepts related to network analysis.
- Experience with QGIS or Google Earth is considered a plus.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm for tackling open-ended challenges within the context of Netflix.
