ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Gonullu Hizmetler Dernegi is an organization 
founded in 1959. Their main area is short-term international voluntary workcamps. GHD has also been active in European youth programs since 2000. GHD sends and hosts European Solidarity Corps projects and participates in youth exchanges. GHD provides many kinds of opportunities for young people to expand their perspectives on the world. The volunteer’s activities will take place in the GHD office, based in Istanbul. The volunteer will have the opportunity to discover EU projects from within, alongside the staff of GHD. The volunteer will organize a workshop every week with local volunteers on different topics to promote intercultural learning and international mobility. The volunteer will also help with communication. Additionally, the volunteer will also have the opportunity to participate in GHD’s international workcamps across Turkey. The volunteer will gain knowledge on EU programs and projects, facilitation, and intercultural communication.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
The volunteer will be hosted in a room in a shared apartment in central Istanbul. The volunteer will receive pocket money every month and a food allowance. The volunteers will be accompanied by the staff of GHD, and a mentor will be assigned to them. They will also be supported in learning Turkish. The roundtrip travel is reimbursed up to 360 euros from France to Turkey.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
- A young participant aged between 22 and 30 years old with a good level of English.
- Motivation to learn Turkish is required!
- The volunteer should have an open mind, be open to new cultures, and be motivated to join the project.
