Summary:
The Fixed Income Investment Internship at Sealaska provides interns with a unique opportunity to spend the summer in Anchorage, working with Alaska Permanent Capital Management (APCM), one of Sealaska’s investment partners. Interns in this program will gain hands-on experience in investment management, specifically focusing on Fixed Income securities. They will join APCM’s team at their Anchorage office and contribute to various tasks, such as tracking corporate earnings, recording corporate credit trade entries, improving Macro Economics data packet formatting, and reviewing client presentations. This internship is designed as a learning experience and does not require prior training or investment experience.
Responsibilities:
– Receive specialized training in fixed income investments.
– Track corporate earnings results.
– Review and enhance client presentations.
– Improve formatting of the Macro Economics data packet.
– Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Required Skills:
– Proficiency in Excel.
– Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills.
– Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
– Must be a Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder.
– Willingness to travel as required.
Education and Experience:
– Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.
– Currently enrolled in a post-secondary school/program or a recent graduate (1-2 years).
– Legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred:
– Business, Investments, or Math focus preferred (Economics, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or Math coursework)
– Minimum GPA of 2.5
– Strong critical thinking and research skills
– Self-starter with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
The internship primarily involves computer-based tasks, including sitting or standing and interacting with information on a computer monitor for up to 8 hours. There may be occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 25 pounds. The job requires visual abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Bending or standing may be necessary.
