Summary

The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) is offering a rewarding internship opportunity through the FARMS program (Florida Aquatic Resource Management Scholarship). As a FARMS Intern, you’ll contribute to the District’s mission of protecting and managing Florida’s vital water resources. You’ll gain valuable experience working alongside environmental professionals on projects related to water quality, conservation, or restoration.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Agricultural Sciences, Agribusiness, Hydrology, Natural Sciences or Engineering, or a closely related field (minimum sophomore year)
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students
  • A strong academic record in science courses
  • Demonstrated interest in water resource management and environmental issues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license (may be required)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection and analysis related to water quality monitoring or ecological restoration projects (specifics will vary by internship)
  • Participate in field work activities under the supervision of experienced professionals
