Description:
This scholarship is for students who want to pursue a PhD degree in selected subjects offered by the university. It is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and is open to students of any nationality. The scholarship covers full funding, tuition fees + stipend. The application deadline varies.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- demonstrate outstanding academic skills and research potential
- have or expect to obtain a first or upper-second-class honors degree in a relevant subject; a master’s degree or its equivalent is desirable
- be a domestic or international (including EU) student. UKRI has imposed a 30% cap on the proportion of international studentships awarded to each group.
Scholarship value
The scholarship provides tuition at the home rate, a 3.5-year doctoral stipend (equal to the Research Council’s UK National Minimum doctoral Stipend, £18,622 for 2023–24), and access to extra funds for research support. Kent will pay the difference between the home and international tuition fees if you apply as an international student.
