Infrastructure Reporting in Lower Mekong 2024

Summary:
The EJN Journalist Fellowship for Infrastructure Reporting in Lower Mekong 2024 is currently accepting applications. The fellowship aims to provide mid-career journalists with training, mentoring, and story grants to report on infrastructural development and its impact on the environment and human rights in the Lower Mekong region. It includes a hybrid workshop consisting of online training sessions and a two-day in-person workshop in March 2024. Selected participants will have their travel, accommodation, and meals covered. Upon completing the training, journalists will be eligible to apply for story grants and receive mentoring as they research and investigate their stories. The fellowship encourages journalists from Thailand, Laos PDR, Myanmar, Cambodia, or Vietnam to apply, particularly early- and mid-career journalists, as well as women and Indigenous journalists. Fluency in English is required, and participants should be able to commit to all workshop days and fellowship activities. The application deadline is 6 February 2024

1. Fellowship Type: EJN Journalist Fellowship for Infrastructure Reporting in Lower Mekong 2024

2. Application Requirements:
– Participants can be from Thailand, Laos PDR, Myanmar, Cambodia, or Vietnam.
– Applicants must have at least two years of experience reporting on infrastructure and/or environmental topics in any medium.
– Fluency in English is required.
– Applicants must commit to attending all workshop days and fellowship activities.
– Applicants must permit republication by EJN of any output resulting from their participation in the fellowship.

3. Fellowship Benefits:
– Training, mentoring, and story grants are provided.
– Selected participants have their travel, accommodation, and meals covered.
– Participants will have access to resources and tools through the STRIDES online knowledge portal.

4. Award: Story grants with an average budget of $2,000 each.
5. Expectations:
– Fellows are expected to dedicate a minimum of two days per week to fellowship activities.
– Fellows are required to produce at least one story during the fellowship.
– Fellows should participate in monitoring and evaluation activities and submit a blog post about their experience.
