1. Application requirements: Applicants must be African women with a master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field of ICT. They must also submit a motivation letter, a CV, a research proposal, academic transcripts, and two recommendation letters. They must apply to both the Dorcas Muthoni Fellowship and the UPF-ICT PhD programme by May 2, 2024 at 23:59 hours CET.

2. Fellowship benefits: The fellowship offers a predoctoral contract with a minimum gross monthly salary of €1,470.98 for the first and second year, and €1,576.05 for the third year. It also includes a startup/landing fund of €2,500, the annual tutorship fees, and the opportunity to join a research group in the ICT department, which has been awarded the Spanish research excellence seal Maria de Maeztu twice.

3. Fellowship type: The fellowship is a full-time, three-year programme that covers the duration of the doctoral studies. The fellows are expected to conduct original research, publish papers, attend seminars and workshops, and participate in teaching activities. The fellows are also expected to return to their African home country after completing their PhD studies and pursue a career related to ICT there.

4. Award Fellowships: The fellowship is awarded by a selection committee composed of members of the ICT department and the university’s Equality Unit.
