Customer Experience Intern

Spring/Summer Intern - PATH, Passenger Services & Customer Experience

Summary:

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey offers a rewarding Spring/Summer internship opportunity to join their PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson) team within Passenger Services & Customer Experience. This program allows you to gain valuable experience in the fast-paced world of public transit, while directly contributing to enhancing the passenger experience.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (program completion expected by Fall 2024).
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on friendliness, patience, and clear communication.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse personalities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • A genuine interest in public transportation and a desire to improve the rider experience (a plus).

Responsibilities:

 (May vary depending on the internship phase):

  • Spring (Start date: April/May, duration: until May 30th, approx. 10-20 hours/week):
    • Assist with tasks related to the rollout of a new fare collection system (e.g., developing customer communications).
    • Analyze and maintain ridership data to identify areas for revenue improvement.
  • Summer (Start date: May 30th, duration: until August 23rd, approx. up to 36.25 hours/week):
    • Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing friendly in-person customer service initiatives.
    • Respond to passenger inquiries and assist with navigating the PATH system.
    • Contribute to research and recommendations for streamlining customer service processes.
    • Assist with analyzing customer feedback to identify areas for improvement.
