Coordinator-BAS Intern

Intern Coordinator-BAS (Brevard Public Schools)

Do you have a passion for working with children and a knack for organization? Brevard Public Schools’ Intern Coordinator-BAS position offers a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in their After School BAS (Brevard After School) program. You’ll provide leadership and supervision, ensuring a positive and enriching experience for school-age children.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (preferred)
  • One year of successful experience in childcare or a similar program (preferred)
  • Completion of Department of Children and Families Standards for Quality Afterschool Programs (SQAP) and Quality Self-Assessment and Improvement for Afterschool Programs (QSAI) training within 90 days of appointment (possible requirement)
  • Preference may be given to candidates with Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification or Vocational Child Care Training degree (plus factors)
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License (required)
  • Extensive knowledge of school-age child development (important skill)

Responsibilities

  • Develop engaging and age-appropriate activities for the after-school program
  • Supervise and mentor staff to ensure a safe and nurturing environment
  • Model effective teaching and child supervision strategies
  • Oversee the development and implementation of routines for meals and snacks
  • Assist with maintaining attendance, enrollment, and staff records
  • Manage inventory and ensure adequate supplies within a designated budget
