Guide for Nigerian Artists and Cultural Experts to Get Funding and Exposure

Summary:

Are you a Nigerian artist or cultural expert? Do you want to implement your project or join a festival in Germany or Africa? If yes, you can apply for the Goethe-Institut Nigeria Support & Connect Program 2024. This program supports solo artists, collectives, and cultural experts in Nigeria. It helps them to create and share their art and culture with others. The Goethe-Institut Nigeria has supported many projects in music, dance, photography, film, theatre, visual arts, literature, and more. It also helps artists and cultural experts to travel to Germany or other African countries for festivals or cultural events. This way, they can learn from others and showcase their work. The program aims to give young and upcoming artists a chance to be heard and seen.

Eligibility:

You can apply for one of these categories:

    • Art and Culture Projects: You must be a solo artist or a collective who has worked professionally for at least 3 years. You must have a project idea that is already developed and prepared. You must implement your project in Nigeria during 2024 and finish it by December 10, 2024. You must fill out the application form correctly and completely.
    • Art and Culture Festivals: You must be an art and culture festival that takes place in Nigeria. You must be at least in your third year. You must implement your festival in Nigeria during 2024 and finish it by December 10, 2024. You must fill out the application form correctly and completely.
    • Art and Culture Travel Grant: You must be an individual who has received an official invitation to a cultural festival/event/project in Germany or in any African country. You must have a host organization that covers your accommodation and living expenses. You must travel during 2024 and finish your trip by December 10, 2024. You must fill out the application form correctly and completely.

Benefits:

You can get the following funding amounts for your category:

    • Art and Culture Projects: up to 5,000 euros each
    • Art and Culture Festivals: up to 5,000 euros each
    • Art and Culture Travel Grant: up to 2,500 euros each The funding is for production and post-production costs. You will receive the funding in several instalments according to a payment plan. You will also share the profit and the copyright with the sponsor.
