Fellowship Program (CADFP) 2024 for African-Born Scholars

Summary:

The Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program (CADFP) is currently accepting applications for the 2024 program. It is a scholar fellowship program that supports educational projects at African higher education institutions. The program is funded by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and has awarded 665 fellowships since its establishment in 2013. The CADFP provides various benefits, including a daily stipend, visa costs (if required), health insurance, round-trip air travel, and opportunities for additional funding. Eligible scholars must have been born in an African country, live in the United States or Canada, hold a terminal degree, and be employed at an accredited college or university. Accredited African universities and research institutions can submit project requests to host African-born scholars for research collaboration, graduate student teaching/mentoring, and curriculum co-development. The application cycle for project requests is open from January 4, 2024, to March 4, 2024.

2. Application Requirements:

– Scholars must have been born in any African country.
– Scholars must live in the United States or Canada.
– Scholars must hold a terminal degree.
– Scholars must be employed at an accredited college or university.

3. Fellowship Benefits:

– Scholars receive a $150/day stipend.
– Visa costs (if required) are covered.
– Supplemental health insurance coverage is provided.
– Round-trip international air travel and ground transportation costs are covered.
– Opportunities to apply for supplemental funding for knowledge production activities and workshop attendance.

4. Award:

Various benefits as provided by the CADFP.

5. Hosts:

– Accredited African universities in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and member institutions of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) and partner universities with the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) can submit project requests.
– Host institutions can collaborate with a specific scholar or submit a request without naming a scholar.
– If a host submits without naming a scholar, IIE will search their roster of qualified candidates to be matched to the request.

6. Application:

– The CADFP application cycle for project requests is open from January 4, 2024, to March 4, 2024, at 11:59 PM EST.
