Join Our Volunteer Team for a 10-Month Project in Burgos, Spain
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION:
Our volunteering project involves 3 motivated volunteers from different countries. At the moment, we have opened the last vacancy to start in June 2024 (or eventually in September) for 10 months, working with Amycos in the city of Burgos and its province. The volunteer will be involved and assigned among these main lines: Global Citizenship Education, for people (mainly children) from the local community, by helping the organization with the start-up of courses, workshops, and different types of events related to sustainable development and solidarity. – Social action, collaborating with other organizations in Burgos, carrying out activities to support the immigrant people of the city in conditions of scarcity through language classes, school support, and leisure activities; – promotion of local and international volunteering through the creation of meetings, educational workshops, cultural, and solidarity events.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY:
Once they arrive, the volunteers will be assisted by the project coordinator and will be assigned a tutor for each activity. The coordinator will show the volunteers how the association works and what kinds of activities they will develop during their stay. These volunteers will also have a mentor who will help them with more strictly personal matters. Also, there will be several activities, such as “reinforced mentoring,” to reflect on learnings, improve the ability to work in a team, facilitate relationships and community inclusion, and promote cultural understanding in general.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE:
Interest in the project: The volunteers have to participate fully in the project, having the desire to contribute actively to the Amycos goals connected with fair social change and sustainable development. Experiences and competencies: It’s not necessary, but we value past experiences in the educational sector positively and our sensitivity to social issues such as immigration, cultural differences, and poverty. Personality: We need positive, flexible, and willing people able to work in groups and a multicultural context. Spanish-language skills will be appreciated.
