The Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) is seeking a passionate Texas social studies educator to join our annual Educator Fellowship program! This exciting opportunity allows you to collaborate with TAMI’s team in developing innovative resources that bring Texas history to life for students across the state.

Make a Difference

As a TAMI Education Fellow, you’ll play a key role in:

  • Creating Engaging Resources: Partner with TAMI staff to develop lesson plans, activities, and other resources utilizing captivating videos from TexasArchive.org.
  • Sharing Your Expertise: Present these new resources to your colleagues and fellow educators, inspiring them to incorporate archival media into their classrooms.
  • Expanding Your Horizons: Gain valuable experience in the world of archives, media curation, and digital engagement through a mini-externship at TAMI’s offices.

Who We’re Looking For

  • A dedicated Texas social studies educator currently teaching Texas or U.S. History in an elementary, middle, or high school.
  • A digital enthusiast with a passion for historical media and a willingness to explore new technologies.
  • Basic video editing skills are a plus, but training will be provided as part of the program.
  • A commitment of approximately 70 hours between September 2024 and September 2025 (most work can be done remotely and during breaks).

Application Deadline: September 1, 2024

The Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) is seeking a Texas social studies educator to receive its annual Educator Fellowship. The selected educator will work with TAMI staff to develop, create, and share new resources for educators and students across the state using videos from TexasArchive.org. Educators will be supported in presenting partnership materials and will receive a mini-externship exposing them to careers in archives, media, curation, and digital engagement. The ideal candidate will be digitally savvy with a passion for archival media and an openness to experimenting with new technology. Basic video editing skills are a plus, but can also be learned as a part of the experience.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Teach Texas or U.S. History in a Texas elementary, middle, or high school; curriculum coordinators are also eligible
  • Commit approximately 70 hours to working with TAMI to develop, implement, and promote educational resources between September 2024 and September 2025 (most hours can be scheduled remotely and during summer or other holiday breaks)

The selected Fellow will receive:

  • A $3,000 stipend delivered in three distributions throughout the year
  • Travel support for a conference presentation and an externship experience at TAMI’s offices
