Scholarship benefits

  • Full tuition fees
  • Annual allowance to cover living and study expenses (£15,364), for the normal duration of the course at UCL.
  • All Promise scholars will also receive on-going academic and career support during their study.

Eligibility criteria

Mandatory criteria for 2024-25. Candidates must:

  • UK domiciled with home fee status or be a forced migrant (as defined by UCL1) in the UK.
  • have accepted an offer of admission to an undergraduate course for to start in 2024-25
  • must not have completed an undergraduate degree at UCL or anywhere else previously.

In addition to these mandatory criteria, candidates must meet at least one of the additional criteria:

  • be in financial need as assessed by UCL.
  • be from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.
  • be from a Gypsy, Roma or Traveller community.
  • have a disability.
  • be a care leave.
  • Received (or were eligible for) free school meals.
  • Attend (or have attended) a low performing school for either GCSE or A level.
  • Live in a disadvantaged area6
  • be first generation in family to attend university at undergraduate level.

Selection

UK will consider your educational, personal and financial circumstances. You will need to demonstrate these in your application. Assessment of applications will be made in relation to the eligibility criteria.

Application process

Once you have accepted an offer from a Bartlett school for an undergraduate course to start in September 2024, you can submit your application for The Bartlett Promise. The application form will be available on our website from 7 June 2024. Candidates must complete an application by 5 July 2024. We will consider your educational, personal and financial circumstances. You will need to demonstrate these in your application form.

As part of the application process, shortlisted candidates will be asked to engage in a one-to-one dialogue with the Windsor Fellowship to discuss anything else which you feel might support your application. This will not include describing or detailing your academic abilities and/or research plans. Dialogues will be conducted electronically via an appropriate method agreed between the Windsor Fellowship and the applicant e.g. telephone, Zoom etc. They will be scheduled by the Windsor Fellowship after the application deadline.

The selection panel will assess your application based on information provided on your scholarship application form and the information you provide in your one-to-one dialogue with the Windsor Fellowship. The assessment of applications will be made in relation to the eligibility criteria.
