Public Information Intern at the United Nations

Public Information Intern at the United Nations will support the communication, media, and outreach efforts of the UN. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public information, journalism, digital media, and strategic communications in a global setting. Interns will work closely with UN teams to promote transparency, increase public engagement, and contribute to the dissemination of UN policies and initiatives.

Main Responsibilities of Public Information Intern :

  • Assist in drafting, editing, and publishing communication materials, including press releases, articles, and social media content.
  • Support media monitoring and research on topics relevant to UN programs and activities.
  • Help develop digital content (videos, infographics, social media posts) to enhance public engagement.
  • Assist in organizing press briefings, conferences, and outreach events.
  • Contribute to the development of communication strategies and public awareness campaigns.
  • Support website content management and ensure timely updates.
  • Collaborate with various UN departments to align messaging and communication efforts.

Required Qualifications as Public Information Intern :

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication strategies.
  • Knowledge of international affairs, the UN system, and sustainable development goals (SDGs) is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, French, Spanish, Russian, or Chinese) is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work in a multicultural environment.
