Summary:
The assignment is for an Associate Communications Officer position in Lebanon, starting on April 1, 2024. The role falls under Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the goals). The host entity is the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). It is an onsite assignment with a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension. The duties of the Associate Communications Officer include implementing UNEP’s multilingual social media strategy, preparing social media calendars and materials for campaign initiatives, drafting social media reports, coordinating UNEP’s work on social media platforms, collecting and producing communications content and data, and performing assigned duties as required.

Requirements:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in A degree in communication, journalism, digital media, information studies, marketing, international relations, or related field.
- Fluency in English and Arabic.
- 4 years of experience in social media, website, digital communication and engagement, marketing or directly related field is required.
- Experience managing multilingual social media accounts is required.
- Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in graphic design is desirable.
- Video making and editing skills is desirable.
- Experience working for a science-focused organization is desirable.
- Experience in project management, data analysis, and implementation is desirable.
- Excellent writing and reporting skills in English and Arabic is required.
- Accuracy and attention to details in data collection, analysis and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, and authorities at different levels;
- demonstrate their capability to work effectively and adapt professionally in challenging environments; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.); familiarity with database management.
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Sound security awareness.
- Have affinity with or interest in the environment, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
