Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program in engineering, construction management, or a related field (e.g., geology, business administration).
• Strong interest in the construction materials industry and a desire to learn about asphalt production.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• A willingness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations alongside experienced personnel at The Shelly Company’s Twinsburg asphalt plant.
• Gain exposure to quality control procedures, safety protocols, and production planning in asphalt manufacturing.
• Learn about relevant industry regulations and best practices for asphalt production.
• Participate in data collection and analysis related to asphalt mix design and plant performance.
• Contribute to project development and special initiatives within the asphalt operations department (as assigned).
