Ariadne Nicolaeff Scholarship

The Ariadne Nicolaeff Scholarship will support a talented student who has been accepted onto the MA Literary Translation course. The scholarship is available to both Home and International Fees students. The scholar would be required to translate a Russian dramatic literary piece that has not yet been published in English as their final dissertation/project. The total value of the scholarship will be £26,000 for one year (or two years if the student is studying part-time) to contribute to the student’s living expenses and course fees.

Documentation requirements

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or a permanent humanitarian visa holder
  • be enrolling full-time in semester 1 and 2 in your second year or above in the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) in 2024
  • have a Grade Point Average (GPA) to date of 2.8 or higher
  • be able to demonstrate a passion for studying and working in the mechanical engineering industry
  • be able to demonstrate financial and/or educational disadvantage such as:
    • receiving a government tested low income benefit or having a Centrelink Health Care Card
    • having a long-term medical condition or disability
    • experiencing personal/family/social difficulties
    • be from an interstate or rural/regional area and moving/moved to Melbourne to study at RMIT
    • have previously/are currently living in foster/kinship care or are a ward of the state
    • be from an under-represented background such as
      • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
      • were born overseas, are from a non-English background and recently migrated to Australia
      • current or former refugee
      • completed secondary school at a School Network Access Program school

Eligibility criteria

You are eligible for a UEA Postgraduate International Excellence Scholarship under these Terms if you meet all these criteria:

  • You are an Overseas fee-paying student. If the fee status changes during your course from Overseas to Home Fees the scholarship shall be discontinued.
  • You are in receipt of an offer to study at UEA at the time of your scholarship application.
  • Students sponsored for full tuition fees by an outside body or government organisation are not eligible for this scholarship. However, students applying for, or expecting to receive, government loans are eligible.
  • Panel’s decision is final.
