Summary
The AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme is designed to enable African researchers to establish global connections, concentrate on projects of their choosing, and engage closely with academics at Oxford. AfOx Visiting Fellows have a 12-month affiliation with the University of Oxford, which consists of a two-month in-person visit to Oxford in May and June (Trinity term) and 10 months of virtual online involvement.
Requirements
AfOx fellowships are open to researchers from all disciplines represented across the University of Oxford’s departments.
Benefits
- You will have a 12-month affiliation with the University of Oxford as an AfOx Fellow. You will interact digitally for ten months before spending two unforgettable months in Oxford. During Trinity’s term (May and June), this time provides students with intense collaboration, networking, and absorption in one of the top academic institutions in the world.
- AfOx offers full logistics support, including assistance with visa application procedures, lodging, travel, visa fees, maintenance allowance for unforeseen costs, temporary university cards, and orientation.
Application Process
- A researcher with an Oxford affiliation must be listed as the applicant’s collaborator on the application. This prerequisite emphasizes how important teamwork is to the program.
- A letter of support from a host at the University of Oxford is required for all applications, and before submitting an application, applicants based at African universities must get in touch with possible partners to discuss the details of their intended project and deadlines.
