Rowan Atkinson: The Actor Who Studied Electrical Engineering

He studied Electrical Engineering at Newcastle University and then continued his studies at The Queen’s College, Oxford, where he earned his MSc degree. Susan Greenfield: The Neuroscientist Who Became a Baroness

Jackie Robinson: The Athlete Who Broke the Color Barrier

Jackie Robinson is a legendary baseball player who made history by becoming the first African American to play in the major leagues. He joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, and faced tremendous racism and discrimination from opponents, fans, and even some of his teammates. He endured all the abuse and hostility with dignity and courage, and proved himself to be an exceptional player. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962, and his number 42 was retired by all teams in 1997. However, before he became a baseball icon, he was also an outstanding student and athlete at UCLA, where he became the first student to letter in four sports: baseball, football, basketball, and track. He also excelled in academics, and was involved in various campus activities, such as the student council and the drama club. Robinson’s story shows that academic excellence can lead to athletic excellence, and that one can use one’s talent and fame to fight for social change.
