Supporting Transitional Justice Initiatives Across Africa

Summary:

Do you work for truth, justice and reconciliation in Africa? Apply for the Initiative for Transitional Justice in Africa (ITJA) 2024. The ITJA is a joint project of the European Union and the African Union. It supports innovative projects that follow the Africa Transitional Justice Policy Framework (AUTJP). The AUTJP aims to promote the diversity and artistic quality of African cinema and to foster cultural exchange and dialogue.

Eligibility:

You can apply if you meet these criteria:

    • You are a registered civil society organization or community-based group in one of the priority African countries.
    • Experience in transitional justice, human rights, or related fields.
    • Have ongoing projects or initiatives that fit the scope of the call.
    • You have at least three staff members, including the founder or director.
    • You have a functional bank account in your country of operation.
    • You have a clear operational structure, accounting processes and procedures, and financial accounting records.
    • You work with communities that have suffered atrocities or human rights violations and have strong connections with victims, survivors and the community.
    • You have not received an RSTMH grant before.
    • You have submitted only one application for an RSTMH grant per year.
    • You are not an RSTMH global assessor in the same year.
    • You are not seeking funds for a project that has already started or finished.
    • You are not a supervisor or referee on an RSTMH grant application in the same year.

Benefits:

You can get up to 50,000 euros for your project. The money is for production and post-production costs. You will get the money in several instalments according to a payment plan. You will also share the profit and the copyright with the sponsor.
