Education & Qualifications Requirements:

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, information management, computer science, or a related field.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experiences:

  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in the areas of project or programme management, administration, languages or related area is required.
  • Experience managing projects in conference and event management in the United Nations or another large international organization is required.
  • Working experience in preparing and authorizing work packages for software development projects is required.
  • Experienced with PRINCE2 or similar project management methodology is required.

Languages:

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
  • For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official language of the United Nations is desirable.

Key Responsibilities Career:

  • Manages the development, maintenance and implementation of the interpretation management application, taking responsibility for overall progress and use of resources and initiating corrective action where necessary.
  • Manages the information flow between the directing and delivering levels of the project, preparing presentations and project documentation, including risk and issue logs, status reports, budget estimates, annual roadmaps and benefits monitoring.
  • Coordinates planning with counterparts to ensure development advances in line with the Department’s priorities, including performance measures and other commitments, as well as with the Department’s enterprise data integration goals, including within the gData and CEM-UE2-INSPIRA projects.
  • Conducts business analysis and liaises with local coordinators to determine requirements, document existing workflows and propose global workflows, discontinue obsolete technologies, streamline system functions and implement change requests.
  • Prepares and authorizes work packages to be actioned by development teams, prioritizes items, organizes user acceptance testing, provides feedback to development teams, prepares system documentation and coordinates deployments.
  • Monitors the development and implementation timelines, tracks progress, identifies problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions, assesses risks, recommends mitigation and escalates to the Project Executive when needed.
  • Carries out change management activities to ensure products delivered are introduced into the relevant business operations, organizes outreach activities; conducts trainings, workshops and seminars; prepares user guides and makes presentations on relevant topics/activities.
  • Manages the Help Desk.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
