Overview:
Sumitomo Electric is searching for an intern to join their Global Planning Group in the Human Resources Development Division based in Osaka, Japan. The intern’s primary responsibility will involve implementing a new global Learning Management System (LMS). This internship is scheduled to take place from May 27, 2024, to August 2, 2024, lasting for a period of 10 weeks. Successful completion of the internship program may open up potential opportunities for full-time positions.

Participants will have the chance to work at either the R&D labs or corporate headquarters of Sumitomo Electric Industries, a Global Fortune 500 company. The internship program will run from May 27 to August 2, with placements available in the Osaka and Yokohama areas. Applications are welcome from university students worldwide.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop a comprehensive understanding of our current internal training program and overall processes.
2. Conduct thorough research on industry best practices for the implementation and utilization of a global Learning Management System (LMS). Our team is currently evaluating systems like CornerStone for internal adoption.
3. Assist in the creation of an all-inclusive plan for the introduction of the new global LMS to group companies outside of Japan. This will involve analyzing data from the trial phase and internal surveys.
4. Provide recommendations on content to be uploaded onto the new LMS, taking into account the specific requirements of our group companies and incorporating both internal training materials and external resources.
5. Support the design and configuration of the landing page for the new global LMS, ensuring user-friendly navigation and an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
6. Potentially contribute to the development of user manuals, available in English and possibly Japanese, to guide users in effectively utilizing the new global LMS.
7. Provide assistance on other projects as needed.
Qualifications:
1. Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Education, Business, Digital Media, Content Creation, or a related field.
2. Fluent in English and Japanese, with intermediate-level proficiency in speaking and writing.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Additional language skills would be advantageous.
5. Experience in creating basic websites or landing pages using HTML.
6. Strong understanding of website design principles.
7. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), particularly CornerStone, would be beneficial.
8. Ability to handle confidential information and maintain strict confidentiality.
9. Proficient in working within a PC environment.
10. Interest in human resources management.
11. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
12. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
13. Willingness to travel to Japan for the duration of the internship and within Japan for specific project requirements.
