About Greig Connell
In 1974, Greig Connell graduated from Swinburne University with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. After that, he worked for Exxon Mobil before switching to engineering recruitment. Greig was a director of Australia Wide and for many years ranked among the top recruiters of engineers in Australia. In particular, Greig Connell was regarded as the authority in automobile hiring. His contacts with clients and applicants demonstrated his high degree of credibility and his enthusiasm for recruitment. For 33 years with Australia Wide, he placed thousands of engineers in positions. Regretfully, Greig passed away on August 30, 2020, but his legacy will live on through this scholarship, which provides funding to a third-year female engineering student.

Eligibility/selection criteria:
To be eligible for the Greig Connell Memorial Scholarship, applicants must:
- Meet the following criteria:
- female student
- Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or International student
- Meet the following enrolment criteria:
- be a continuing second or third-year Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2024
- enrolled full-time in an eligible course (see courses eligible in the section above)
- May have experienced personal or financial hardship, which may have hindered access to education.
- Submit a personal statement (500 words) describing your passion for your field of study.
Scholarship benefits:
- The scholarship is valued at $5,000 for one year only.
- The successful scholar will be offered an opportunity with Australia Wide to work with a senior consultant to assist them in achieving job readiness.
