Brazil Development Volunteer

Fees:

• The program starts at an affordable rate, typically around $525 for a one-week experience (check the IVHQ website for exact pricing). This fee is all-inclusive, covering:
  • Airport pickup upon arrival in Rio de Janeiro
  • Orientation
  • Accommodation (often shared volunteer housing in a safe area)
  • Meals (breakfast is common)
  • 24/7 in-country support throughout your stay

Volunteer Requirements

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older (family programs may also be available).
• Prior experience in community development is beneficial but not required. A genuine desire to help others, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and an ability to adapt to new situations are essential.
• Your tasks may involve:
  • Assisting with urban agriculture projects (planting, harvesting, building gardens)
  • Participating in environmental clean-up initiatives or educational workshops
  • Supporting local NGOs with community development projects (specifics depend on the organization’s focus)
  • Potentially helping with basic construction or renovation projects within the community
• Basic English communication skills are necessary. Portuguese is the primary language in Brazil, but some basic knowledge can be helpful for interacting with locals. IVHQ may offer optional Portuguese language classes for volunteers who wish to improve their communication.
