Summary:
The Hardware Engineering Internship at Google provides an exciting opportunity for students currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in various engineering and science fields. This internship focuses on the design and construction of computing infrastructure systems that have the potential to shape the machinery used in data centers, directly impacting Google users. Working in collaboration with teams responsible for developing and deploying next-generation consumer hardware, the intern will contribute to ensuring the reliability and adherence to Google’s quality standards. By closely collaborating with experienced engineers, the intern will play a role in enhancing hardware performance and functionality, thereby making a significant impact on the overall user experience.
Depending on the intern’s experience and interests, they may have the chance to work on projects related to Electrical Hardware Engineering, SIPI (Signal Integrity and Power Integrity), System Hardware Engineering, or Validation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Acoustics, Audio Sciences, Physics, or a related field.
- Possess experience in one or more of the following areas: Acoustics, ASIC Design, Computer Architecture, Circuit Design, Design Verification, Digital Design, Embedded Systems, Hardware/Software, Signal and Power Integrity, Statistics, System Modeling, Test/Measurement, or Verilog.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Acoustics, Audio Sciences, Physics, or a related field, with the intention of returning to the degree program after completing the internship.
- Have experience (e.g., research assistant, teaching assistant, personal projects outside the classroom, etc.) in Hardware, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Optical Engineering, or other related fields.
- Possess knowledge and experience in Test/Design/Manufacturing/Prototyping tools.
- Demonstrate excellent coding skills.
Responsibilities:
The specific responsibilities assigned to the intern will vary depending on the project area. The intern will actively contribute to project objectives, which may include tasks such as hardware design, testing, validation, simulation, analysis, or optimization. They will work closely with the project team to achieve project milestones and deliverables, benefiting from the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with experienced professionals in the field.
