Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (all majors welcome)
• Strong commitment to community service and social responsibility
• A desire to learn about the unique challenges and opportunities facing Appalachia
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative under supervision
• Physically fit and able to perform some outdoor tasks (may vary by placement)

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities will vary depending on the specific placement, but may include:
  • Assisting with environmental restoration projects (e.g., planting trees, trail maintenance)
  • Supporting educational programs in schools or community centers
  • Contributing to community development initiatives (e.g., housing rehabilitation, food banks)
  • Helping to preserve Appalachian culture and heritage (e.g., historical site maintenance, arts programs)
  • Participating in community outreach and engagement activities
  • Documenting your experiences and the impact of your service
