Description:
A 12-week internship program is offered by Schwan’s Company from May 20 to August 9, 2024. During this internship, the intern will have the opportunity to work on and assume responsibility for exciting and strategic projects that are directly related to the applicant’s coursework and have real-world applications.
Additionally, frequent interactions will be facilitated with upper-level management, executives, and even the CEO, allowing for valuable networking and insights from experienced professionals in the field.
The internship also presents prospects for career growth within Schwan’s well-established food company, as it often leads to full-time job opportunities upon graduation. Emphasis is placed on creating a culture that focuses on ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of Schwan’s Company employees. Moreover, the intern will receive support and mentorship from team members who are known for being authentic, good-natured, and highly skilled.
Expected Responsibilities:
- Direct production, packaging, or bakery production line to produce products meeting company and USDA requirements.
- Responsible for supervising employees, including skills development, safety, housekeeping, policy administration, discipline, employee relations, cost control, and problem-solving.
- Will be mentored in the management and supervision of front-line employees. Will also be mentored in the interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes following required EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines.
- Where applicable, work closely with USDA representatives on-site to ensure all company, state, and federal requirements for food safety are met. Review and sign off on all Quality Assurance and HACCP documentation.

- Excellent verbal and written communication proficiencies.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing setting, is advantageous.
- Adherence to safety protocols, operational best practices, and maintenance procedures.
- Demonstrated aptitude in problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Confident in providing constructive feedback and actively participating in idea-sharing.
- Strong time management skills for timely project completion in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment.
- Demonstrates initiative and takes ownership of tasks.
- Thrives in overcoming challenges and making decisions even in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Education Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Manufacturing, Logistics, Business Administration, or Engineering as an undergraduate student.
- Expected to graduate in either December 2024 or May 2025.
- Preferably, a GPA of 3.0 or higher is desired.
