Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds PhD
Funding Opportunities for Exceptional Researchers in Biological Science
Summary:
The esteemed Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds PhD Fellowships at University of Birmingham 2024 are available for individuals seeking a Ph.D. degree in the fields of Biological Sciences, Psychology, Medical, and Dental Sciences. These fellowships, provided by the University of Birmingham, support exceptional young researchers who aspire to undertake challenging and ambitious Ph.D. projects in fundamental biomedical research. The projects are conducted in globally renowned laboratories with a strong international reputation.
Application Requirements:
- The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds (BIF) awards Ph.D. fellowships to European citizens working in Europe or overseas, as well as non-European citizens pursuing their Ph.D. project in Europe.
- At the respective deadline (February 1, June 1, October 1), the applicant’s first university degree qualifying for a profession (e.g., BSc, Diploma, Final State Examination) must not have been obtained more than 8 years ago.
- The Ph.D. project must be experimental and focused on basic biomedical research, aiming to elucidate fundamental biological phenomena of human life and generate new scientific knowledge.
- Natural scientists should have received their last university degree before starting their Ph.D. studies (BSc, diploma, MSc, or equivalent). If the MSc studies are not yet completed or the MSc degree certificate has not been received by the deadline, it can be submitted up to four months after the deadline.
- Physicians, veterinary surgeons, and pharmacists should have successfully passed their state examinations.
- The foundation gives preference to applicants who are about to commence their Ph.D. work at the time of applying for the fellowship, and preliminary results are not expected.
- Ph.D. fellowships cannot be used to supplement inadequate funding from other institutions, bridge temporary financial difficulties, or support investigations that are already sponsored by other institutions.
- If two candidates from the same laboratory apply for a Ph.D. fellowship simultaneously, only one of them may receive the fellowship. Therefore, it is recommended that they apply at different deadlines.
