This role allows you to contribute to their independence and well-being by providing safe and friendly transportation for outings and local errands.

Fees:

There are no fees to volunteer as a Minivan or Car Driver at BVRC. Reimbursement for fuel costs may be available, subject to BVRC policies.

Role:

This role focuses on driving seniors to various destinations, including scheduled outings, medical appointments, and local errands, ensuring their safe and timely transportation.

Requirements:

• Valid Australian driver’s license with a clean record (minimum 3 years’ experience).
• Excellent driving skills and a commitment to safety.
• Patience, reliability, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with seniors.
• A National Police Check (BVRC will assist with this process).
• Availability to volunteer during weekdays or weekends (flexible scheduling options available).

Responsibilities:

• Assist seniors with entering and exiting the vehicle safely.
• Drive seniors to scheduled outings, medical appointments, and local errands as assigned.
• Ensure a comfortable and safe ride for all passengers.
• Maintain clear communication with seniors and BVRC staff regarding pick-up and drop-off times.
• May assist with carrying groceries or other items for seniors (as needed).
• Adhere to BVRC policies and procedures regarding volunteer driving.
